❛ Clowns are characters outside the rules of regular society, they are able to subvert the normal order. Clowns spread in cultures of any time and place, because they meet some deeply rooted needs in humanity: violation of taboos, the mockery of sacred and profane authorities and symbols, reversal of language and action,and to point out social absurdities.❜

Kiva began as a clown in 2004 with training in comedia dell'arte with Corn Exchange in Ireland. shortly after this she started to work with the Irish Humour Foundation for their clown doctor programme. In 2006 she set up Alakazam! an entertainment company based both in Ireland and England where she hires out all types of performers as well as working herself. ❜

Irish Humour Foundation

❛ Kiva began working with the Irish Humour Foundation (IHF) since it was created in 2005. They are affiliated with the Australian Clown Doctors and her training was led by one of their founders Jean Paul Bell.
Dr. Hunter "Patch" Adams in the USA is believed to be the father of clown doctors when he put forward the idea of healing through humour and compassion as an aid to normal medicine. He has since set up the Gesundheit Institute which is completely free hospital based in the states.

Clown doctors are dedicated to promoting the health benefits of humour, they are professional performers that parody hospital routine to bring laughter to those that need it the most! Clown Doctors are performers who travel around children’s hospitals to bring laughter and humour to those that need it the most. We try to eliminate any fears and anxieties that the children, parents and indeed the staff may have and we truly believe that

‘’laughter is the best medicine’’

We do not see someone with an illness, we only see a child that wants the opportunity to be able to be a kid once more!

Imagine being a child in hospital, away from the comfort of your home and all that is familiar, and feeling sad, anxious, frightened, lonely or in pain. This is where Clown Doctors can help. This programme is now all over the world and the benefits of humour and laughing have been proven all in every kind of situation. ❜

Alakazam!

❛ Kiva has her own clown company with which she hires out all types of performers for every kind of event, be it private or large scale VIP corporate events. Kiva has a mixture of clowns, magicians, face painters, balloon modellers, storytellers and puppet artists. All of which can be hired out from everything for one hour to the whole day. We provide clowns for birthday parties, communions, festivals and charitable evenings. With a choice of princess, pirate and pop parties.

As well as children's entertaining Alakazam cater for adults parties too with a mixture of close up magic, balloons and comedy that will fit in perfectly to any kind of soiree.❜
